Capitol Hill asked to speed up dialogue process with Tanzania counterparts over Lake Malawi row

The Parliamentary Committee on International Relations has asked government to speed up discussions with Tanzania on the Lake Malawi dispute. Speaking when he presented the committee’s report of activities, Chairperson for the Committee, Alex Major, said government has taken too long to finalize discussions on the matter. Major further expressed concern that despite the ongoing discussions, Tanzanian government has already started floating passenger vessels on the lake in the absence of any agreement. Meanwhile, the committee has implored on government to be transparent to Malawians on the state of the negotiations.
