ACB Arrests Karim, Bottomani in Malawi Police Service food ratio scam

The Anti-Corruption Bureau – ACB has arrested Zameer Karim of Pioneer Investment and former Malawi Police Service-MPS Director of Finance Innocent Bottomani in relation to the contract supply ration packs to the Malawi Police Service in 2015.

The two have been arrested alongside Grant Kachingwe.

According to ACB’s Senior Public Relations Officer, Egritta Ndala, Kareem is likely to be charged with one count of theft, uttering false documents and acquiring proceeds of crime.

A press Statement made available to VoL signed by Ndala further says Kachingwe will be charged with the count of forging documents in order to help Pioneer Investment obtain a bank loan.

On the other hand, Bottomani will be charged with uttering false documents, abuse of office and acquiring proceeds of crime.

Recently, Karim has made headlines for donating 145 million kwacha to President Peter Mutharika, which was widely believed to be proceeds from the food rations contract.
